Since work began on Thursday this week (23rd) we have been very busy and this short break is a good chance to play 'catch up' on this blog so that you can see what has been happening.
We packed as much of our home into some rooms - thus emptying others - so that they could be stripped to the brickwork and rafters for renovation.
This sounds easy enough; and it is really! Just takes more time than you may suppose. So we spent most of the summer since the Ivyvilla Phase 1 work took place planning what could go where etc. A lot of downstairs loung stuff was packed in the dining room and we have to live round it - see top pic !
Fortunately this house has two attics; one is a home office and the other is being turned into a sewing/art room. Initially we were going to have those rooms worked on professionally but then we realised we needed the space for storage!
So one of them got a DIY job done on it (repaired and painted) - and just as it was being admired and returned to 'normal' we put all the rest of the household belongings into it (well nearly all!)
Hear are some photos of the DIY job which does not look too bad after all
NB Our main website ALSO HAS photos on it, taken in April 2008, showing the earlier work - and link in with this blog.
More of that later.
